Family Science Workshops

Join us for free science workshops and activities at The Invention Rooms! Come and enjoy fun hands-on workshops exploring a wide range of science topics every half term and during the school summer holidays for families with children aged 7-11.

Or take part in a Discovery Day where you can ask questions to real researchers as we delve into the latest science discoveries through creative workshops, interactive demonstrations and engaging activities.  Recent workshops have covered everything from playing quantum pong, making your own solar array, and seeing if you can build a t-rex taller than you!

All sessions are completely free for families with children aged 7-11, local to the White City area.

We also run Saturday Science Club, a free series of workshops about the science of the future. The next series of Saturday Science Club will take place in Spring 2026.

Discovery Day

Saturday 14 March 13.00-16.00, with two arrival time slots at 13.00 and 14.30.

In this discovery day we’ll be exploring molecules, biology and health. Delve into cells and make giant molecules as we learn about cutting-edge Imperial research! Run the blood cell maze, challenge your family to healthy food board games, create artwork, design your own LEGO university and more!  You’ll also hear about our family workshops that we run throughout the year.

Activities are designed for children ages 7–11, but all family members are welcome!

If you have any questions about Discovery Day or you prefer to book your space directly with us, you can email the team at: whitecity.familyprogramme@imperial.ac.uk. If an arrival time slot is showing as sold out, please email the team to be added to the waiting list as spaces often become available.
