The Works will temporarily close from 29 September until week beginning 17 November 2025 to allow for a full refurbishment. This project encompasses a full renovation to the front and back of house areas, drastically enhancing what it can offer the community.

When it reopens, The Works be a more comfortable and flexible environment with upgraded furniture, a refreshed layout and an improved service offering. It will support a wider range of affordable food options, including a greater variety of hot food offerings and an expanded value for money menu.

Behind the scenes, improved kitchen and storage facilities will allow the café to operate more efficiently and better cater for campus hospitality needs. The renovated space will also boast an improved bar area to encourage evening socialising.

To ensure you’re still well catered for during the closure, we’ll be running a variety of temporary food stalls outside The Works (next to Kokoro) throughout the duration of the project. These will include:

  • Coffee stalls: Bari Stars and Roasted Martini (08.00–16.00, Mon-Fri)
  • Daily food vendors: Multiple rotating stalls daily offering a wide variety of cuisines including Chinese, Italian, Greek, Indian, Spanish and more (11.30–16.00, Mon-Fri)
  • Kokoro food truck: Extended opening hours (11.00-20.00, Mon-Fri).

Further improvements, including to the MSRH Common Room and the Student Hub, are also planned before the end of the year, and we look forward to providing more details on these in due course.
