Pak Liu

Start Date: October 2026

Pak is in the final year of his MSci Chemistry degree at Imperial College London. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he moved to London to pursue his undergraduate studies. His research interests lie broadly in inorganic and organometallic chemistry, and during his undergraduate degree, he carried out research internships with Prof. Lisa Vondung at the University of Hamburg, investigating hybrid PNP pincer ligands for uranium complexes and small-molecule activation, and with Prof. Vivian Yam at the University of Hong Kong, synthesising platinum(II) complexes for OLED applications.

More recently, he joined Prof. Ellen Matson’s group at the University of Rochester as an iScholar, where he investigated linear free-energy relationships in reductive proton-coupled electron transfer at polyoxovanadate-alkoxide clusters. He also undertook a UROP project in Prof. Nick Long’s group at Imperial, exploring non-innocent aluminium complexes for redox-switchable copolymerisation.
