Dengue (sometimes called ‘break-bone fever’) is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes. It is widespread globally in tropical and subtropical climates. Each year, up to 400 million people get infected with dengue globally, 70% of which are in Asia. Most people recover in 1-2 weeks; however, some people develop severe dengue and must be hospitalised.
