If you're interested in contributing to our 'Designing Adolescent Sleep Research' study, please sign up by completing our online Consent Form.
We’re inviting students aged 16–18 to take part in a research study exploring how we can improve the way sleep is measured in adolescents.
As part of the study, participants will join six in-person workshops held between April and July at the Mohn Centre, Imperial College London (White City campus). We're looking for participants who can attend all six sessions. Each session will last around 1.5 hours.
What will you do?
Across the six workshops, you’ll:
• Learn about sleep and sleep monitoring and share your own interests and experiences.
• Discuss what helps or stops young people from getting involved in sleep research.
• Test different sleep-monitoring devices at home between sessions — including Fitbits, smartwatches, sleep mats, and more.
• Track your own sleep using these devices and a sleep diary.
• Talk about your experience using the devices and how accurate or easy to use they felt.
• Explore big questions in sleep research — like how long data should be collected, what feedback people want, and what privacy concerns they might have.
• Help design better research by developing recommendations for future studies with young people.
What do you get?
• £15 per workshop you attend — up to £90 total.
• A chance to learn about real health research and contribute your views to help shape it.
• Experience that could be great to mention in personal statements or job applications.
We’re looking for around 30 participants to join the workshops. If you're curious about sleep, science, or just want to try something new, we’d love to hear from you!
