Autumn term 2025 – An Update on Canvas Implementation by Professor Alan Spivey

After a year long collaborative process, we have selected Canvas as Imperial's new Learning Management System, or LMS for short.

Adoption of this platform marks a major milestone in replacing legacy platforms like Blackboard and Insendi with a unified, user focused system that will support learning and teaching across the university.

The project is currently in the initiation phase moving into design and would like to thank everyone who contributed to the extensive requirements gathering process.

Colleagues' input at all levels has shaped this project and ensured it reflects the needs of our community. As we move into template building and testing in spring term 2026, we will once again be inviting staff to get involved, so if you are interested in participating, please get in touch.

Spring term – Deliver key user training and recruit Change Enablers. Business School begins transition to Canvas first.
Summer term – All programmes will begin transition to Canvas from April 2026​, with Business School going live first.
Autumn term – All programmes will go live in time for Academic Year 26/27.
