The School of Convergence Science is a mission-led initiative within Imperial’s Science for Humanity strategy. Its work unfolds across four interconnected themes: Health and Technology; Human and Artificial Intelligence; Space, Security and Telecoms; and Sustainability. We collaborate globally with researchers, industry, governments, and funders to translate science into action for the world’s toughest challenges.

It is shaping more than solutions—it is shaping a new way of doing science. One that recognises complexity, embraces responsibility, and measures success not only by discovery, but by impact. Through the School of Convergence Science, Imperial is stepping into a defining role: not only advancing knowledge, but helping to build a more resilient, equitable, and hopeful future for the world.

Professor Mary Ryan, Vice-Provost (Research and Enterprise), said: “By bringing together staff and competencies from across and beyond Imperial, Imperial’s School of Convergence Science will allow us to respond creatively, effectively and with agility to the diverse challenges associated with the big issues of our time – from climate change and sustainability to global health and AI.”
