Imperial’s Global Challenge Institutes (Energy Futures Lab (EFL), Institute of Infection (IOI), Institute for Molecular Science and Engineering (IMSE), Institute for Security Science and Technology (ISST)) were created to address some of the most important issues facing the world. Those challenges persist and have become even more complex in recent years.
In line with the launch of the ‘Science for Humanity’ strategy, and the vision for convergence science at the university being set out, the School of Convergence Science was created and the mantle of some of the Institutes was passed on.
