Imperial Horizons Japanese modules are offered at five levels, from complete beginner upwards.

Our interactive classes use a communicative approach, developing speaking, reading, writing and listening through pair and group work in class, supported by multimedia resources both in class and via our VLE. Modules are standalone but also prepare students for further language study.

Students should be aware that learning a language takes time and commitment and requires a minimum of 3 hours a week of home study to succeed.

The table below provides guidelines about our module levels and the year groups they are offered to. Please read the module descriptions and, if you are not sure which level to apply for, please fill in this form to see if a level assessment is required — it takes about one minute.

~Please note that Level 1 cannot be taken by I-Explore students

Students can only take a module in the reserved time slot for their particular year of study. It is not permitted to enrol on an Imperial Horizons module from another year group (one that runs on another day of the week).

Imperial Horizons modules listed in our literature and on the website are those that the Centre is currently offering in the academic year listed. Modules run subject to sufficient demand and resources. The university reserves the right to cap numbers and change or discontinue modules.
