The Disability Advisory Service is divided into three teams. These are:
Disability Advisory Service Teams
Disability advisors
We provide confidential and impartial advice and support to students with a wide range of impairments or disabilities to enable you to participate fully in your studies. We can help identify any disability-related needs you may have and discuss the best way of meeting them.
We help you obtain the relevant evidence if you don’t have it. We aim to promote autonomy by ensuring you can make fully informed decisions to access the right support if you need it.
Operations team
Our team supports the work of the disability advisors and SpLD tutors and is key to underpinning the provision of an efficient and operational service. We are the first point of contact for students, parents and guardians.
Specific learning difficulties tutors
Our team provides screenings for specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). For students who display enough indicators, we refer forwards for a full diagnostic assessment.
We also provide study skills support sessions for an hour each week (on a flexible fixed-term basis). In addition, we run themed workshops for small groups of students.
