Planning for Success Beyond Your Postdoc is designed to help experienced postdocs to take their next step, whatever your choice of future career.
During the course, you will be encouraged to explore your career options and develop an action plan to achieve the next step whilst enhancing your job application and interview skills.
This course is aimed at postdocs with two to four years’ of experience who are coming towards the end of their contract or making plans for their next career move.

The course aims to help you:
- Develop a strategic approach to planning your career
- Improve your job application and interview skills, whatever your career choice
Objectives
By the end of the course, you will:
- Reflected on the career choices you have made to date
- Reviewed the skills and expertise you have acquired as a postdoc and identified the gaps
- Developed strategies to move towards research independence
- Discussed case studies which highlight common challenges
- Set clear and robust goals to achieve career progression

For the online iteration, we will use Miro, watch this three minute video for an introduction to Miro.
- It is important that you are fully present and an active participant, to create a safe space for sharing and discussion.
- For some of our online sessions, you will be required to keep your video cameras on. Please ensure prior to attending that you have a fully functioning camera and microphone. If you have any issues with your equipment, please contact us as soon as possible. If you require your camera to be off as a workplace adjustment, please let us know in advance so that we can make the tutor/facilitator aware.
- Please ensure that you are in a private space where you can maintain confidentiality and the privacy of the other participants.
- To maintain confidentiality, all participants are asked to agree to keep what is said within the group, and not record or take screenshots/photos without permission. Pictures or quotes from the session should not be posted on social media or elsewhere without the express permission of those involved.
- Your CV may be shared with a selection of your peers as part of the course so that you can learn from each other and see where the gaps may be.
- For the course to be successful, we need to ensure that anything that you view or is shared with you verbally during the course is kept confidential
By attending the course, you are agreeing to keep all that is shared with you confidential and to not make any digital copies of the documents to which you will be given access. You can however take written notes.
