An increasing number of Postdocs and Fellows are needing to supervise people doing systematic reviews as well as write their own. This session is designed to answer any questions you might have about finding information or the process of doing this type of review to ensure you’re giving the correct advice to those you are supervising.
The session is based around the questions you, and the other attendees, ask after doing our online systematic review tutorial. Therefore it’s difficult to describe in more detail what will be covered as this will depend on what questions are asked. There will be no judgement passed on what you already do or don’t know on this topic.
The tutorial was written by the Medicine Liaison Librarians and this session will be run by one of them. However, people from other departments are still welcome to join.
The session will be informed by the questions that attendees ask before it. These could include:
- What are the differences between different types of reviews (e.g. scoping review Vs systematic review)?
- How can I create an appropriate research question for the review?
- What are the PRISMA flowchart and guidelines?
- What software can be used to help us screen our results?
This event is designed for Staff supervising and supporting others to write systematic reviews.
Goals
- Ensure that you’re giving the correct advice to the people you are supervising
- Understand the process involved in conducting and reporting systematic/ scoping reviews.
- Increased confidence of searching databases.
- Ask questions relating to the people you are supervising and hear from others in a similar position.
