Preparing for Thesis Submission, Examination and Open Access Q&A

This session is a unique opportunity for all doctoral researchers to receive integrated support from the Registry Assessment Records Team, the Early Career Researcher Institute (ECRI) and the Library’s Open Access Team.

It has 2 parts you can attend separately or together (about 1 hour each, depending on questions). If you want to attend both parts, please register separately; you will receive 2 calendar invites.

These sessions are open to all research degree students but are not for credit and will not count towards the attendance requirement.

Part 1 - Assessment Records Team (Registry)

This session will provide students with an overview of the key final stages of their research degree programme, and associated Imperial regulations, policies and procedures. This includes:  

• Arrangements for your writing up period
• Confirming your entry for examination, and the examiner nomination process
• Submitting your thesis for examination
• Viva examination procedures and result outcomes
• Final thesis and award

Part 2 - Open Access Team (Library)

In this part we will explore your thesis being made open access in Spiral as required by Imperial, the exemptions available and the benefits of open access more generally.

• The requirement to make your thesis Open Access via the Imperial open access repository for research, Spiral.
• Open access and dissemination of your research
• What Embargoes can I use for my thesis online?
• Creative Commons licences for your thesis

How to Book

Book via Inkpath using your Imperial Single-Sign-On.   Bookings will close one week before each live session. If you want to attend both parts, please register separately.
