In recent years social media use has grown exponentially exposing content and opinions to millions worldwide. As academic researchers this can be exploited indifferent ways.
Is social media a tool for visibility increase, science communication or a bottomless pit of time wasting?
In this course, we are going to cover the why and how to increase your visibility, social media use and some strategies to overcome barriers, both online and offline.
This course is open to Postdocs, Research Fellows & Research Degree Students.

- Understand the importance of social media
- Explore uses of social media within the academic research context
- Recognise needs of different audiences
- Reflect on the most appropriate mean of dissemination
- Understand how to overcome the barriers for the use of social media and what support is available at Imperial
