In this masterclass run by Imperial’s Public and Community Engagement team (open to both Imperial doctoral students and staff), participants gain an understanding of the value of public engagement activities as a pathway to research impact and how embedding these in applications for funding can strengthen their chances of success. It is particularly relevant for anyone involved in developing funding proposals involving public engagement with research.

During the course, participants gain an understanding of the UK higher education funding landscape and explore how funders view public engagement as a form of knowledge exchange and route to societal impact. Participants consider how engagement might lead to societal impacts for their own research areas, develop plans for effective public engagement that could lead to research impact, and how to evidence the difference made through engagement activities.

This course is open to Postdocs, Research Fellows & Research Degree Students.
