This course gives an introduction to Imperial College London Library resources and information services designed specifically for first year research students. Key areas covered include:

  • How to locate and access information resources using the library search and other search tools
  • Specialist databases for different literature types
  • Accessing electronic journals including Open Access journals
  • How to get help and support from library staff
  • How to get materials from outside the Imperial collections

This course is open to Research Degree Students, Postdocs & Research Fellows.

  • Identify the best sources of information for research needs
  • Employ effective search techniques.
  • Develop an ability to find the best quality information for your research.
  • Assess the quality of information they retrieve during your research.
