If you are looking to develop your understanding of the priorities and language of commercial organisations and what they want to achieve when working with academic partners, then this training is for you. The skills learned in this workshop will support effective interactions and well-managed projects with industry and will be of value whether you are staying in academia or looking for a career move into a commercial organisation.
This course is open to Postdocs, Research Fellows & Research Degree Students.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the landscape and opportunities for Industry Academia Partnerships
- Reflect on the industry expectations of academia
- Understand the challenges of partnering with industry and how to overcome them
- Learn the language of business
- Learn basic business skills needed when working with industry
- Understand how to negotiate your requirements and meet the needs of your industry partner
- Develop strategies to overcome the challenges inherent in Industry Academia Partnerships
