This course is designed to engage and develop your understanding and increase your awareness of unconscious bias. It is an interactive opportunity, building on the online training to review actions to mitigate unconscious bias in the research environment with signposting and tips.
We may not be aware of our unconscious biases or their implications. If we can become aware, we can learn to adapt our behaviours and improve decision making processes to enhance our performance as well as that of a team or an institution.
The live session builds on your preparatory work, with discussion and sharing of perspectives to support you to reflect and relate activities to our individual lives.
The online training to prepare for this course is expected to take approximately 60 minutes. You will need to complete this and a 5 minute questionnaire before the live session (120 minutes). Participants are expected to fully engage with all parts of the training.
N.B. This course does not cover machine learning.
This course is open to Research Degree Students, Postdocs & Research Fellows.
