Higher Education

Advance HE (formerly known as the Equality Challenge Unit, or ECU) works to further and support equality and diversity for staff and students in higher education. They provide a central resource of advice and guidance for the sector, on topics such as:

Imperial as an institution is a paid subscriber to Advance HE. That means that you can access their resources by creating an account on their website using your Imperial email address. They have over 8,000 resources in their Knowledge Hub

Learned and Professional Societies

The Royal Society has produced a number of reports and publications as part of its commitment to increasing diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Other societies may have information about their own EDI efforts, networks in their disciplines, or funding. For example:

Networks

Higher Education Race Action Group (HERAG) is a network for anyone interested in advancing race equality in higher education.

The Women’s Engineering Society is a professional network for women engineers, scientists and technologists offering inspiration, support and professional development. 

There is a national LGBT+ Network of Networks in Higher Education.

Campaigning organisations

WISE campaigns for gender balance in science, technology and engineering and also offers training.

Business in the Community has campaigns on age, gender and race.

Stonewall is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights charity. Their website has information, help and advice.
