MSc in Machine Learning (Online degree)

Degree level: Postgraduate - This is an online degree
Department: Mathematics + Coursera
Description:  Launching in autumn 2020/21, the degree will be one of the first online courses that focuses on Machine Learning and its applications.
The degree, developed in partnership with the online education platform Coursera, will teach students in the computational, mathematical and statistical foundations of Machine Learning.
Students will also have the opportunity to work with industry-standard tools like PySpark and PyTorch to develop and apply their Machine Learning and data science skills. Over the coming year a number of specialisation courses will be released which will give students the opportunity to explore these areas.

MSc in Artificial Intelligence

Degree level: Postgraduate - This is a conversion degree
Department: Computing
Description:  A taught postgraduate course aimed at graduates in disciplines with a large mathematics component, such as Mathematics, Physics and some types of Engineering. To apply, it is not necessary to have studied computer science previously.
The programme includes specialised intensive training in programming and AI, with a wide choice of elective modules, a group project and a large individual project. Students are encouraged to do both group and individual projects in collaboration with leading companies working on applications of AI.
The course will enable graduates to master the mathematical skills to understand and implement modern statistical machine learning methods, to master the logical foundations of AI, to master a variety of current AI and machine learning techniques and develop insight into problems involved in their application, develop the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of particular implementations, and develop the ability to deal with real-world data and scenarios and to apply and adjust techniques to realistic applications.
