Imperial College London is committed to supporting all staff who identify as carers to achieve a good work life balance in order to continue excelling at work whilst being able to balance their caring responsibilities.
This site aims to provide all relevant guidance and support information related to being a carer at Imperial in one place and enables you to build networks with fellow colleagues in similar situations at the College. We hope this network will help staff with finding an ideal balance between work and home life in addition to access to useful resources and facilitating conversations with other colleagues.
If you have any queries, comments or suggestions, or you would like to add an event or workshop please contact us firstname.lastname@example.org.
Following the 2019 Staff survey and feedback from the recent Carers Focus Groups in February this year, we understand that caring responsibilities affect many of you.
In order to create a supportive working environment for those of you with caring responsibilities, Imperial has become a member of Carers UK, and will be planning activities for staff to mark National Carers Week (8-14 June). Further details will follow on this.
In 2016 the College became a member of Working Families which is the UK’s leading work-life balance organisation. The charity helps working parents, carers and their employers to find a better balance between responsibilities at home and in the workplace. The College has now won several Working Families awards in recognition of its support to working staff.
The College took part in the Working Families Top Employers Benchmark from 2016 up until the present year. Up until 2019, the College has been placed in the Top 30 Employers for its family friendly initiatives.
We are pleased to announce that in 2020, the College was placed in the Top 10 Employers for Working Families.
