Lost connections: Unravelling the mysteries of brain disease

On 15 May 2024, researchers from the UK DRI Centre at Imperial took part in the Pint of Science festival, joining scientists across the country in bringing cutting-edge research to the public in a relaxed, informal setting: the local pub.

Dr Jo Jackson and Dr Nathan Skene took to the stage in The Durell Arms in Fulham to share how their work is helping to unravel the complexities of the brain and advance our understanding of dementia. From decoding the early stages of Alzheimer's to harnessing the power of big data and AI, the talks offered a fascinating glimpse into the future of dementia research.

The event was part of the Pint of Science 2024 programme, which aims to make science more accessible by taking it out of the lab and into everyday spaces. It was a lively evening of discovery, discussion and plenty of curiosity from an engaged audience.
