We investigate materials for optical and electronic devices, for applications in communication, sensing, healthcare and energy, using our state-of-the-art facilities. We work closely with the London Centre for Nanotechnology and the Centre for Processable Electronics.

Our research explores:

  • Room temperature MASERs based on both organic molecules and defect centres in diamond and silicon carbide
  • Quantum information processing devices based on the strong coupling of spin-ensembles to microwave modes.
  • Development of a Quantum Internet
  • Exploiting molecular semiconductors and magnets
  • 2D devices for wearable technologies
  • Materials for photovoltaics and light-emitting diodes
  • Investigating chiral organic semiconductors
  • Investigating nanowire devices
  • Microwave and terahertz devices for communication and sensing
