Headley Court in Surrey has been the centre for the rehabilitation of Britain’s wounded military personnel. From 2009, this work was especially challenging as hundreds of patients with amputations needed complex physiotherapy and treatment. The staff at Headley used every resource at their disposal, including its remarkable garden. In April this year army photographer Rupert Frere (finalist in Sky Master of Photography 2016) was commissioned to produce a series of works capturing the power and beauty of the space. Dr Emily Mayhew will present some of these photographs and explain the medical context and importance of the work done there.
