Professor Bernard Carr and Dr Roberto Trotta will be debating the existence of other Universes and the nature of the Multiverse in the next of The Big Questions series “Do other universes exist?”

Professor Bernard Carr is Professor of Mathematics and Astronomy at Queen Mary’s, University of London (QMUL). His research interests cover many areas of cosmology and relativistic astrophysics, including the early universe, dark matter, pregalactic stars, gravitational lensing, black holes and the anthropic principle. He also has an interest in several topics on the border of science and philosophy. He recently edited a book entitled “Universe or Multiverse?”, with contributors from all sides of the multiverse debate.

Dr Roberto Trotta – Lecturer in Astrophysics at Imperial College London. His research employs advanced statistical methods to compare theoretical predictions with observational data from ground-based instruments and satellites, in order to study the characteristics of the Big Bang and to determine the properties of dark energy and dark matter in the Universe. His research and communication of science activities have won several awards, including the BA Lord Kelvin award and the Michelson Prize at Case Western Reserve University. He participates to science festivals in the UK and abroad and he has made several media appearances.
