Meeting

Join us for a careers seminar focussing on what can be done to support parents returning to work, and to enable them to stay in their chosen career.

Please register to attend via Eventbrite

43% of women and 23% of men switch fields, transition to part-time work, or leave the STEM workforce entirely after becoming parents. What can be done to support parents returning to work and enable them to stay in their chosen career?

This is an open panel discussion with three Daphne Jackson fellows who have been supported to return to work in the areas of STEM after a career break taken for family, caring or health reasons:

  • Dr Gillian Forrester, Reader in Psychology, Birkbeck, University of London and former Daphne Jackson Fellow
  • Dr Maria Ribera Vicent, Teaching Fellow, Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College London and former Daphne Jackson Fellow
  • Dr Richard Matthews, Research Fellow, Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London and current Daphne Jackson Fellow

This open discussion is for those who have experience of returning to science after a career break, who are thinking about it or who would like to support colleagues in this transition period.  This is about creating an environment where people feel supported during the return to their chosen careers.
