How we can build, shape and sustain meaningful relationships in an increasingly online world? Join our panel of experts to discuss the future of dating

From customary courtship to swiping left and right, the way that we meet, date and hook up has radically changed in the past twenty years. With the arrival of online dating, and now dating apps, another element of our social lives has been outsourced into the digital realm

In the middle of a pandemic with enforced social distancing, we’ve been left with little choice but to look for relationships online – with dating apps reporting huge increases in messaging and video call dates. But what are the cultural consequences of dating in a digital age? And how will advances in technology influence our romantic relationships in 5, 10, 20+ years’ time?

Join us for this Imperial Lates Online discussion, where our expert panel of writers, psychologists and dating app developers will be discussing and answering your questions on the future of dating.

Our expert panel features:

  • Sean Patrick Henry – Director of Product at Grindr
  • Dr Nejra Van Zalk  lecturer and researcher in psychology and human factors at the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London
  • Dr Aifric Campbell is the author of 3 novels and lectures at the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication at Imperial College London. Her forthcoming book, The Love Makers, explores the future of love.
