About the event

Career Connect is a new initiative that brings alumni together in a speed-mentoring context around a specific theme or subject. The theme for this event is Women in Maths, and we invite recent graduates, working in or aspiring to a maths-related profession or holding a maths degree, to take part as mentees.

This is an opportunity to connect with more experienced alumni to develop your networks, explore maths-related career choices and challenges and discover best practice in a focussed, relevant group setting.  You will have a chance to explore the questions that interest you most, including how to move forward in your career, break into a specialism, face everyday challenges and succeed.

How it works

Speed-mentoring is a series of short, focused conversations about specific questions. These are impactful one-off conversations in small groups that allow for a quick-fire exchange of ideas and questions between recent graduates and more experienced alumni, without the level of commitment needed for an ongoing mentoring relationship.

The event will consist of a series of short, group speed-mentoring rounds which will take place in separate breakout rooms. In each round, you will join a small group of mentees to meet an experienced alumni mentor who has built a career in maths or has valuable experience of how to succeed in this sector.

Before the event, you have a chance to view the alumni mentor profiles on Imperial Plexus* and let us know who you would like to meet on the day. We will do our best to match you with your chosen mentors where possible but cannot guarantee this.

We will also share more information ahead of the event with all registered mentees, including tips for making the most of your time with your mentors.

*You will need to have an activated Imperial Plexus account to view the mentor profiles.

Please note, online registration is for alumni wishing to take part as mentees. You can find out more about participating as a mentor here and complete this short form to register your interest.

This event is open to alumni of Imperial College London only.

Registration is now closed.
