Title: Cell cycle regulation in microbes
Abstract: Microbial cells are remarkable in their abilities to adapt to different environments while maintaining cellular homeostasis. How cells coordinate the various events within the cell cycle, notably cell division and DNA replication, remains an outstanding problem for cells of all domains of life. I will discuss our current understanding of cell cycle regulation in microbes, including recent results demonstrating a tight coupling between DNA replication and cell division in E. coli.
