Our Alumni Spotlight event series shines a light on talented and passionate alumni from our global community. Each event features an exceptional Imperial alumnus who will share their career journey, expertise in their sector and thoughts on leadership and making an impact. They’ll also share their passions and motivations and take questions from the audience.

The next alumnus in the Spotlight will be Peter Rawlinson (Mechanical Engineering 1979) CEO & CTO of Lucid Motors.

About Peter
As CEO of Lucid, Peter is responsible for all strategic and business aspects of the company. As CTO, he is responsible for the creation and delivery of all Lucid products. He brings over 30 years of automotive industry experience to bear in these roles. Prior to Lucid, Peter was Vice President of Vehicle Engineering at Tesla and Chief Engineer of the Model S, where he led the engineering of the Model S from a clean sheet to production readiness while building the engineering team.

In this online event, Peter will be in conversation with Professor Mary Ryan, Vice-Dean (Research), Faculty of Engineering, to share insights from his fascinating career. Hear about his journey from his time at Imperial, to his role as Chief Engineer at Tesla, and now as CEO of their biggest competitor. Together, Peter and Professor Ryan will explore big questions about the current climate emergency and the technology and engineering solutions required to stem the tide.
