Event Poster Dr Sam Rodriques

The Centre for Advanced Therapeutics Early Career Researcher Network is delighted to welcome Dr Sam Rodriques from Francis Crick Institute, who will be presenting a talk entitled:

                                                       Spatial and Temporal RNA Sequencing

Abstract: Single-cell RNA sequencing has revolutionized biology, but requires tissues to be dissociated into their constituent cells, discarding information about the spatial structure of the tissue. Here, we present Slide-seq and Timestamps, two new technologies that provide single-cell sequencing with spatial and temporal resolution, respectively. We discuss how Slide-seq provides full transcriptomic information with single-cell spatial resolution, and how this technology can be applied to discover new patterns of spatial gene expression and to study the effects of pathologies on tissue organization. We further discuss how Timestamps enables transcriptional dynamics to be inferred from RNA sequencing, allowing the inference of complex temporal dynamics from a single endpoint measurement. Finally, we will present an overview of the Applied Biotechnology Laboratory, which is the Francis Crick Institute’s first dedicated biotechnology laboratory, and the problems we plan to focus on in the coming years.
