Please join us online on Wednesday 29th September from 12:00 – 13:00 at the CRI Interface Section External Seminar Series.

We will have an exciting talk from Dr Choon Hwai Yap on ‘Novel nano-surfaces for modulation of thrombosis in medical devices’.

Dr Yap worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the National University of Singapore, before joining Imperial College as a Senior Lecturer. Part of his research focus is on the biomechanics of prenatal cardiovascular system, where he attempts to understand the role of abnormal forces in congenital heart malformations, and to develop biomechanical models that can evaluate fetal heart function and predict disease and interventional outcomes. Another part of his research is to use novel materials strategies to modulate thrombosis in cardiovascular medical devices. This includes superhydrophobic nanomaterials that can reduce blood stresses and thrombosis, and superhydrophobic nanofibrous hemostatic materials that can induce rapid clotting and easy detachment.

The event will be on Microsoft Teams.
