The Department of Infectious Disease (DoID) Post Doctoral Reps invite members of the Department to join the DoID Post Doc and Fellows Day, which will be held on Friday 29 October.

We hope to provide an interesting day of research and career talks and panels, promoting interactions and collaborations between the different sections and groups within our Department, which are spread between the different campuses. It will be a great opportunity for us to learn about the support available to help us in our new career steps, discover and get inspired by what other postdocs are doing and hopefully establish fruitful collaborations.

The event will be held on Teams and run from 10:00 to 17:00 followed by networking and socialising! The day will consist of:

  • Introductions from our Head of Department Professor Wendy Barclay, the Departmental postdoc champion Avinash Shenoy, and the Post Doc and Fellows Development Centre (PFDC)
  • A panel featuring DoID fellows
  • Short talks showcasing work being done by postdocs in the department
  • Keynote talk by Dr Fiona Marston, OBE, Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at LSTM and previous Director of the Centre of Excellence in Infectious Disease Research at LSTM

An invite has been sent out to postdocs and fellows in the Department of Infectious Disease, however, please contact us via email (doid-postdocreps@imperial.ac.uk) if you missed it. The talk by Dr Marston will also be open for anyone in the Department to attend, a separate event invite will be circulated.

We are currently calling for 120-word abstracts for the short talks: these should be 10 mins long plus 5 mins for questions, giving a brief overview of your work. If you are interested, please send your abstract or contact us on doid-postdocreps@imperial.ac.uk. There will be prizes for the best talks!
