On Monday 30th October, 2-3:30pm, the ICB CDT will host a Legal Fundamentals panel at ScaleSpace, in the Stadium.

This will look at best practice for IP and contractual issues, as well as some stories of bad practice! If you are thinking about starting up a business or you have one already, come along to this free event to hear about:

– What to worry about when

– What really sets IP apart

– What can and can’t you protect

You’ll also get plenty of time to ask your own questions to the panel, and there will be time for networking over light refreshments from 3pm. The panel will be facilitated by Hattie Willis, founder of GuessWorks, with the following panellists confirmed:

  • Rina Sond: An IP Lawyer focusing on helping startups understand what their IP is, what it’s worth, and how to protect it.
  • Joyeeta Daas: Joy is a serial deep-tech entrepreneur, who has founded 5 startups, 3 of which have had successful exits. If you want to learn more about Joy’s journey you can listen to her being interviewed by Hattie here.
  • Caroline Hughes: Is a former tech and IP lawyer turned entrepreneur. She is also the co-founder of Hive Founders, a network supporting female founders to get investment ready.
  • Alex Bond, founder of Freshcheck. A PhD alumnus from Imperial College London, Alex studied the Chemical Biology of Health and Disease. He has worked in the food hygiene industry for over 6 years and has managed industrial trials and product rollout.
  • Dr Emma Toumi, Imperial’s own Associate Director of Intellectual Property Strategy within the Ventures team.
