Abdus Salam and The Fundamental Forces of nature

The ballot for in-person tickets is now closed, thank you to those who entered. Successful winners will be contacted over the next few days for a chance to claim tickets.

On behalf of Imperial Theoretical Physics, please register to join us online for an unforgettable lecture honouring Nobel Laureate Professor Abdus Salam. We are very excited to welcome Professor Brian Cox CBE as our keynote speaker, along with Professor Atish Dabholkar, Director of the International Centre of Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy.

Abdus Salam was one of the giants of 20th century theoretical physics and Imperial his academic home for 40 years. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979 for his work on unifying the electromagnetic and the weak nuclear forces. This unification is a cornerstone of the Standard Model of Particle Physics, our best understanding of all of matter.

Abdus Salam and the Fundamental Forces of Nature

Abdus Salam was one of the giants of 20th century theoretical physics and Imperial his academic home for 40 years. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979 for his work on unifying the electromagnetic and the weak nuclear forces. This unification is a cornerstone of the Standard Model of Particle Physics, our best understanding of all of matter.

Professor Salam also passionately believed that science was a uniting force in the world, founding the International Centre of Theoretical Physics (ICTP) devoted to advancing international collaboration and scientific expertise in the developing world.

Professor Dabholkar will speak on Salam and his efforts to promote science in the developing world and Professor Cox will provide the keynote talk on the theme of unification in the Standard Model of Particle Physics, and the ongoing quest for a unification of all forces of nature including gravity.
