Dr Peter George

Dr Peter George (MBBS BSc PhD FRCP) is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and the Clinical Lead of the Interstitial Lung Disease Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr George was awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine in 2009 and secured funding from the Medical Research Council for his higher degree. He completed his PhD at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Jane Mitchell, focusing on the role of the innate immune system in pulmonary vascular inflammation.

He subsequently received specialist training in interstitial lung disease at both Hammersmith and Royal Brompton Hospitals in London as well as National Jewish Health Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

He is actively involved in basic science and clinical research with an honorary clinical senior lecturer role at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London where he is currently supervising BSc and PhD students.

Since 2020, Dr George has been developing and validating artificial intelligence-powered CT based imaging biomarkers for patients with interstitial lung disease at Brainomix where he is the Senior Medical Director. Leveraging his clinical and academic experience, his team have discovered novel vascular signatures in the CT scans of patients with interstitial lung disease with patents pending in the US and EU.  With FDA regulatory submissions in progress, this novel AI technology has the potential to transform the management of patients with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis by speeding up the delivery of new pharmaceuticals in clinical trials and in the evaluation of patients in routine clinical practice.

Please come and join us for Dr George’s seminar in SAF 120 or via the Teams link provided on Wednesday 21st February from 12:00-13:00.
