Making vaccines to respond to disease X: the 100-day mission
Aurélia Nguyen—an Imperial alumnus— will focus on the fascinating and important topic of pandemic preparedness and response. Now Deputy CEO of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), the lecture will explore the vast and complex world of infectious diseases, focusing on CEPI’s investments in over 50 vaccine candidates or platform technologies and an array of enabling science projects targeting its priority pathogens – Chikungunya, COVID-19, Ebola, Lassa fever, MERS, Nipah, and Rift Valley fever. Central to CEPI’s pandemic-busting plan is the 100 Days Mission: a goal spearheaded by CEPI and embraced by the G7, G20 and industry leaders, to accelerate the time taken to develop safe, effective, globally accessible vaccines against new threats to just 100 days—including against a future Disease X. Learn about how CEPI has been working to achieve the 100 Days Mission and stop the next outbreak in its tracks in Aurélia’s seminar on 11 March.
