Graphic with a green water bottle and statement - Be part of the solution, not the pollution.

Did you know plastic bottles make up around 30% of all plastic pollution in UK waters and coastlines? And that the UK consumes around 7.7 billion plastic bottles every year? A reusable bottle could replace nearly all of these – which is why we’re installing and upgrading hydration stations across campus. We’re starting with South Kensington and have plans to continue across all Imperial’s campuses.

Our hope is that by making access to water refills easier than ever, we as a community, can reduce our plastic use. By doing your part for the environment, you are also helping yourself; saving money and staying on top of your hydration goals!

Join us from 11.00 – 13.00 on Thursday 15 May 2025 in the Senior Common Room for the unveiling of our hydration stations; participate in a game for the opportunity to win a branded reusable bottle! Plus, we’ll be giving away canned water to promote sustainable alternatives to plastic.

Cans Vs Plastic – we need your feedback!

While plastic degrades each time it’s recycled and often ends up in landfill, aluminium can be recycled forever without losing its quality. Taste Imperial are keen to make the switch from selling water in plastic bottles to aluminium cans at our outlets, but it would come at a small price increase of 20p per can.

Would you be willing to pay 20p extra for aluminium cans over plastic bottles?
