Vector, virus, and visibility: lab, field, and computational research to inform models, surveillance, and sometimes just because it’s fun
This talk explores how lab, field, and computational research can help us better understand arbovirus transmission, starting with things we think we know and ending with the factors we might be underappreciating. I will delve into mosquito behavior and the effects of temperature, the path towards diagnostic development, and a pet project that started at a wedding in Mexico. Because sometimes research is also just about curiosity.
