Cassandra has been working in Science Communication and Public Engagement for over 10 years. As Chief Executive of the Martingale Foundation, she oversees all aspects of the charity including communications and engagement. Communications is an essential part of her work, ensuring stakeholders are invested in the organisations work, including pitching to funders, and engaging with the media. In her previous role at UCL, her work involved communicating with a wide range of stakeholders from patients with neurological and psychiatric conditions, to charities such as the World Health Organisation, to leading funders such as Wellcome and UKRI. Her work is now focused on social mobility within STEM postgraduate research, providing fully funded Master’s and PhD scholarships in STEM to talented people from low-socioeconomic backgrounds along with a programme of support.
In this session, Cassandra will take you through a series of exercises to understand how to responsibly communicate your research. Whether it is your funder, stakeholders, students or the wider public, strong communication skills are vital to strengthen relationships and get your research out there.
