The Mechanical Instrumentation Workshop plays a crucial role in supporting research and teaching at Imperial, providing technical support within the Department of Physics. The workshop has made significant contributions to cutting-edge solar missions such as Solar Orbiter, JUICE, IMAP and Quantum Navigation.

Alongside traditional mechanical workshop machine tools, the facility houses a range of computer aided design (CAD) equipment and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools.
