Public health dynamics for respiratory virus outbreaks and pandemics
Respiratory viruses pose a significant and recurring health security risk. From SARS1, through pandemic influenza and COVID-19, infectious disease dynamics has helped inform our response. In this talk, I’ll discuss some key questions and answers from historical outbreaks before thinking about how a future pandemic might unfold. I’ll also discuss how these topics relate to the recently published UK Pandemic Preparedness Plan.
