Join us for the next Imperial Science Cafe: Improving Cancer Detection in GP Appointments Using Digital Scribes at Maggie’s West London.
Diagnosing cancer early can be challenging, especially when patients visit their GP with vague or non-specific symptoms that do not immediately raise concern. Current efforts to speed up cancer diagnosis often miss these cases. This project explores whether a new technology called “digital scribes” (AI tools that listen and take notes during consultations) can help GPs think more clearly and make better decisions when cancer might be a possibility. It also explores whether these tools could eventually offer real-time support to help GPs spot cancer earlier. We will not focus on a specific cancer but prioritise cancers that are difficult to diagnose, such as brain, lung, pancreas, oesophagus, liver, and stomach.
