IDE Summer Show

The IDE programme is a double master’s degree delivered jointly by the Dyson School of Design Engineering (Imperial College London) and the Royal College of Art. With 45 years of history, IDE has a proud legacy of producing groundbreaking innovations.

The work in the show focuses on individual student projects work carried out over the last six months and highlights their passion for creating positive change, their abilities in identifying challenges and opportunities, their creativity in developing new ideas, and their skills in designing, developing and validating new solutions.

This year, there is an impressive diversity of projects, organised across six themes:

  • LIVING SYSTEMS: From flora to fauna, looking beyond human design
  • BODY INTELLIGENCE: Understanding the self through sensing and detecting
  • HEALTH AUTONOMY: Alternative solutions providing accessibility and agency
  • DELIBERATE THINKING: Mind-changing design and rewiring behaviours
  • REFORMED MATTER: Extending the life of materials by engineering backwards
  • FUTURE CRAFTING: Reimagining futures with novel technologies

The physical exhibition is also an opportunity to chat with the graduating students, ask questions, experience their interactive prototypes and to gain a visceral sense of the potential of the projects and individuals.
