MAMMA-VAD: Rethinking Breast Abscess Treatment
Breast abscess is a common and painful condition, but current treatment often involves surgery, despite limited evidence that it is the best approach for patients. MAMMA-VAD is a randomised feasibility trial comparing minimally invasive ultrasound-guided vacuum drainage with standard surgical drainage, aiming to explore whether vacuum drainage could offer a less invasive alternative while maintaining effective treatment. This presentation will introduce the clinical problem, the rationale and design of the trial, and what we hope MAMMA-VAD will tell us about the feasibility of evaluating a new approach to breast abscess management.

Targeting the active hydrolases in colorectal cancer
This talk explores active hydrolases in colorectal cancer using activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) and metaproteomics. By identifying and characterising these enzymes, the project aims to uncover potential therapeutic targets and improve our understanding of CRC biology.
