Studies conducted in one geographical location may not be generalisable to another. Therefore, with colleagues from the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit, we are pleased to be supporting neonatologists at Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China to conduct a two-randomisation, multi-centre controlled trial modelled on the UK COLLABORATE study. This will recruit over 2000 infants born below 29 weeks’ gestation over the next two years. An Individual Patient Data meta-analysis is planned, that will combine data from the UK and China to provide further insights into the longstanding uncertainties COLLABORATE aims to tackle.
