Congratulations to Henry Benns on successfully defending his PhD thesis

Henry was a BBSRC DTP PhD student working on covalent drug discovery for infectious diseases caused by apicomplexan parasites, such as malaria. His work focused on establishing a multidisciplinary pipeline that integrates reactivity-based chemoproteomics and CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis screens to discover new targets for covalent anti-parasitics. The project was co-supervised by Matthew Child (Life Sciences) and conducted in collaboration with Eranthie Weerapana (Boston College), the London Biofoundry, and groups at the Dundee Drug Discovery Unit.

In August, Henry will be starting a senior scientist position at Novartis in Basel, Switzerland. Here, he will be applying and developing new DNA-encoded library technologies within the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics team.

Congratulations, Dr Benns!
