Imperial College London has announced the appointment of Brindha McDonald as its new Head of Security and Community Safety.

Brindha will take up the post on 30 June, bringing with her a wealth of experience from across government and national infrastructure.

Brindha has held senior roles at the Bank of England, DEFRA, the Home Office, and the Government Property Agency. She has led national crisis responses, advised ministers on security risk, and managed large, multi-disciplinary teams. She is known for her focus on transformation, inclusive security cultures, and delivering safety in complex environments.

Speaking about her new role, Brindha said: “I am delighted to be joining an iconic institution like Imperial. I'm excited to work with the team to continue driving a culture of excellence and resilience. I look forward to meeting you all soon!”

Brindha’s arrival follows two years of leadership by George Wrigley, who has overseen the Community Safety and Security team through a period of change and development.

Jane Hay, Deputy Chief Property Officer, said: “We would also like to thank George Wrigley, who has led the team for the past two years. We’re enormously grateful for his dedication and leadership during this time, starting a transformation of the service to improve safety and security for the University; we wish him all the very best for his future.”

Reflecting on his time at Imperial, George said: “It has been a privilege and pleasure to work alongside so many people in our community; we have made some good things happen together and there is more to do. It is amazing to have Brindha taking over as she will build on what we are doing and continue the journey.”

Brindha’s appointment marks a new chapter for community safety and security at Imperial, as the University continues its focus on building a safe, inclusive and resilient environment for all.
