MEdIC Team Wins National Award for Excellence in Medical Education Scholarship

Imperial’s Medical Education Innovation and Research Centre (MEdIC) has been awarded the ASME Institutional Commitment to Scholarship Award 2025.

Presented by the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME), the award celebrates institutions that demonstrate a long-term, strategic commitment to educational scholarship.

MEdIC was recognised for its impactful work across key areas, including widening participation, inclusive education, sustainability, and the development of future educators and leaders. Based within the School of Public Health, MEdIC brings together clinicians, educators, researchers, and students to shape the future of medical education.

The panel highlighted MEdIC’s clear strategic vision, the depth and breadth of its scholarship, and the centre’s commitment to embedding research-informed education at all levels.

Dr Ravi Parekh, Director of MEdIC, said: “We are truly honoured to receive the ASME Institutional Commitment to Scholarship Award. This recognition reflects the work of the Medical Education Innovation & Research Centre (MEdIC) and our commitment to advancing high-quality, community-engaged, and impactful research in health professions education. It also acknowledges our dedication to fostering a representative and inclusive future education workforce through our widening participation and outreach initiatives. This award is a testament to the incredible MEdIC team at Imperial College London and to the many students, trainees, faculty, collaborators, and patients who have supported and contributed to our work.”

This award highlights Imperial’s ongoing leadership in medical education and underscores the importance of educational scholarship in shaping healthcare for the future.
