Find all the advice you need through the Careers Service
Career planning can sound intimidating, especially if your professional future currently feels like one big question mark. This is where we come in! Whether you have your dream career in mind, are still considering further study or have absolutely no idea where to start, the Careers Service can help.
Getting started
Plan:Me is a practical mapping tool to help you learn about how to research different opportunities and the various resources that can support you during the decision-making process. Check out this short video to learn more about it.
If you’re looking for ideas, you could browse our undergraduate, master’s or PhD career journey webpages.
Next steps
It’s now time to write up your plan and start exploring your options. Why not make the most of the summer vacation to self-reflect? Not only can this help when choosing a professional path, but also in the future when you’re applying for jobs and attending interviews.
Brainstorm any thoughts you have about what you’d like to do. Our What can I do with my degree? and What do Imperial graduates do? webpages may prove useful if you’re feeling a little uninspired! You could also research your interests using LinkedIn or Prospects to discover what roles are out there.
Most importantly, we would recommend revisiting your Plan:Me every month; review what you’ve done, what you’re going to do next and think about the time frame. Just a 15-minute session can help keep you on track!
